We are currently seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented MS SQL Database Administrator to join our team in Perth for a contract position to manage and maintain our client's SQL Server databases. The ideal candidate will ensure database performance, security, and availability while supporting business processes and data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, and upgrade MS SQL Server instances.
Manage database environments, including development, testing, and production.
Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions for improvement.
Optimize queries, indexes, and database configurations to enhance efficiency.
Implement and maintain database security protocols, including user access and roles.
Develop, implement, and test database backup and recovery strategies.
Ensure high availability and disaster recovery solutions are operational.
Perform regular database maintenance tasks, including re-indexing and updating statistics.
Work closely with development teams to design database schemas and support application development.
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues promptly.
Provide technical guidance and training to other team members as needed.
Maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, processes, and policies.
Generate regular reports on database performance, usage, and capacity planning.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications or equivalent work experience may be considered.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in T-SQL scripting and query optimization.
Strong understanding of database architecture, normalization, and indexing.
Experience with SQL Server tools (e.g., SSMS, Profiler, and Performance Monitor).
Knowledge of high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.
Familiarity with data integration tools (e.g., SSIS) and reporting services (e.g., SSRS).
Basic understanding of server operating systems and networking.
Certifications (Preferred):
Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate or Database Administrator Associate.
ITIL or similar certifications.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
